Tackling and Preventing Fleas and Worms!

Fleas are like those uninvited guests that many pet owners have to deal with year-round, and they can turn your furry friend’s skin into a not-so-fun place to be! Fear not! We’re here to help you spot these little nuisances, tackle them head-on, and keep them from turning your home into a flea fiesta!

A flea is a tiny, reddish-brown, wingless munchkin that loves to snack on the blood of mammals! We’re talking dogs, cats, rabbits, and yes, even us scrumptious humans!

Though tiny enough to fit on a crumb, fleas are like the Olympic athletes of the bug world, leaping mighty distances that would make a kangaroo jealous!

Spotting the signs – If your furry friend is scratching like they’re auditioning for a dance-off or you’re feeling like a human buffet, take a sec to run through these quick checks! Part the fur on your pet and look closely at the skin surface. Fleas will leave behind faeces that looks like small black grains of sand. Brush the coat with a very fine toothed comb, this will collect the debris. Put these coat brushings on a wet piece of white paper and wait for a minute. if flea dirt is present then the flea faeces (which is dried blood) will dissolve and create reddish brown streaks on the paper.

If your beloved pet is dealing with those annoying fleas, your goal is to eliminate those adult fleas before they start their biting spree! The next step is to break the flea cycle, preventing any more of those little pests from maturing. Prepare for a dedicated 12 months of relentless flea-fighting efforts to make sure those nuisances are gone for good!

Eliminating those pesky fleas in your home is a must, and fear not! Household flea sprays are super effective at keeping infestations at bay!

And there you have it – fleas are still crashing the party! Keeping these pesky parasites at bay should totally be a part of your pets preventative care plan.
